Alrik Yuill x EMBLM

Alrik Yuill is a notable visual artist and surfer based in Costa Mesa, CA. While his paintings are often colorful and abstract, his sculptures allude to the classical tradition combined with a contemporary sensibility. Growing up on the California coast, Yuill was introduced to surfing at a young age. Surfing and surf culture continue to be an integral part of his life and the inspiration for his Space Time Surfboards, where he designs and hand shapes one-of-a-kind and custom surfboards.

The Saint Christopher Pendant

Medallions with images of Saint Christopher, the patron saint of travelers, have been worn since ancient times and are thought to protect and bring safe passage to the wearer. In the 1960's these symbolic pendants were revived and made iconic in California when members of the surf community began wearing them for protection. As an homage to a more mythical interpretation of Saint Christopher's journey, we chose to depict him as the cynocephali, or dog-headed man. This pendant pendant was designed by EMBLM and hand sculpted by Yuill.

Yuill has chosen Surfrider Foundation, a non-profit environmental organization that works to protect and preserve the world's oceans, as the organization to which a portion of profits from all Saint Christopher pendants sold will be donated.
