Genesis Escapulário Necklace
The images on the front and back of Genesis Escapulário Necklace were drawn by Amanda Maciel Antunes aka dama, in relation to her latest body of work ITHACA.
As described by Antunes, “Originally, the scapular may have emerged from an apron-like piece of cloth worn by monks, dating back to the 7th century... In contemporary culture, scapulars are objects designed to show the wearer's pledge to a confraternity, a saint, or a way of life, as well as reminding the wearer of a promise.”
As with all pieces designed via EMBLM’s Artist Partnership Collective, a portion of the profits from each piece sold will be donated to a non-profit organization of the Artist Partner’s choosing. In this case, Antunes has chosen Amazon Watch, a nonprofit organization that works to protect the rainforest and advance the rights of Indigenous peoples in the Amazon Basin.
